Adding OANDA Accounts

After creating and verifying your OANDA account, you can create additional trading accounts and generate API keys that can be connected to this application.

OANDA allows you to create separate trading accounts that can be used for live trading or practice trading. Each account has its own account number and API access.

Step 1: Open the Accounts Page

Sign in to your OANDA dashboard and navigate to the Accounts page.

Select the Add New Account button.

Clicking this button will start the account creation process and allow you to add an additional trading account to your profile.

Step 2: Configure the Account

During account creation, you will be asked to provide:

  • A display name for the account.
  • The base currency for the account.
  • Select USD as the account currency.

After completing the required information, submit the account creation request and wait for the account to appear in your dashboard.

Step 3: Open Trading Tools

After your account has been created, navigate to the Trading Tools section of the OANDA dashboard.

From the available tools, select:

OANDA API
Build code to monitor strategies and access your trading account programmatically.

Step 4: Generate an API Key

The OANDA API page allows you to generate an API token for the selected account.

You may create API keys for:

  • Your Live Trading Account
  • Your Practice (Paper Trading) Account
  • Both accounts, if you intend to use both environments
Store your API token securely. Anyone with access to your API token may be able to access your trading account according to the permissions granted by OANDA.

Step 5: Add the API Key to This Application

After generating the API key, return to the Account Management page within this application:

Go to Account Management

You may provide:

  • Only a Live Account API Key
  • Only a Practice Account API Key
  • Both Live and Practice API Keys at the same time

Security

API credentials entered into this application are stored securely in Azure Key Vault. Keys are not stored directly in the application database and are protected using enterprise-grade secret management.

Next Steps

  1. Create an OANDA account.
  2. Add a new trading account.
  3. Generate an API key using the OANDA API tool.
  4. Enter the API key on the Account Management page.
  5. Verify connectivity and begin configuring trading settings.
